Malmsbury’s Remnant Bluestone Heritage
In February 2024 Malmsbury Bluestone was officially designated a Global Heritage Stone Resource. Since it was first used in 1856, many of the local uses of the stone have been lost due to demolition and neglect, while others have a bright future. Join Malmsbury Historical Society on a history tour and learn about why Malmsbury bluestone is internationally recognised as being significant to human culture, what the stone was used for locally, how much of this has already been lost, and ponder how long the rest will survive without adequate protection.
These history tours are popular and have a limit of 20 people per walk so bookings are essential.
Cost is $5 per person, payable only in cash on the day.
Email Malmsbury Historical Society on malmsburyhistorical@gmail.com or phone (03) 5423 9383 to make bookings.
