More from The Old Auction House Galleries
The Old Auction House is a creative hub showcasing the emerging artists and creatives of Regional Victoria and beyond.
With two Galleries that specialise in emerging and mid-career contemporary artists individually and in group shows, an Australian Handmade Shop featuring more than 100 makers as well as a busy schedule of Creative Workshops by an ever expanding list of local artists in everything from Silver Jewellery to Leadlight or Illustration.
The space is also home to Leadlight By Ettore, a multi-generational glass arts teaching studio and Kyneton Craftery, a craft and maker studio who run both adult workshops and kids birthday parties in a range of crafts including polymer clay, jewellery making and scrapbooking.
The hub is open 7 days, including all public holidays, excluding the annual closure from December 25th to January 1st each year.
The DiPilla family bought the derelict historic 1880’s timber building in 2016, known in the town as the Ferris Auction House which it housed for 90 years. The 1/4 acre under roof building was in uninhabitable condition and after six months of intensive renovations, the shop and glass studio were opened with the gallery and more artist studios opened 3 months later. The Old Auction House officially opened on April 22nd 2017 and remains a completely family-owned creative hub in Regional Victoria. The restoration of the back sections of the building are currently on hold but are hoped to add another large creative teaching studio to the hub.
