Bio – Valley Road
Local Folk duo Valley Road have been quietly captivating new fans over the last year with their heart-rending harmonies and intricate guitar playing, after winning a Troubadour Foundation Award in 2022 at the Burke & Wills Folk Festival. Their resulting debut album was released in October 2023 to much acclaim, and has already garnered wide-spread radio play, including being featured on ABC’s Saturday Night Country. Rebecca Jane Howell and Marty Mckenna have been singing together for over a decade. They weave their experiences into songs of people and place (usually sitting around Marty’s farmhouse kitchen table), bringing an Australian perspective to their diverse folk influences. When the duo takes to the stage, their years of friendship and singing together shine through, drawing listeners into their rich inner worlds through their contrasting yet perfectly suited voices and delicate guitar playing.
Bio – Luke Watt:
Luke Watt is a folk/blues singer-songwriter. With influences including Chris Whitley, Richard Thompson and Kelly Joe Phelps, he’s a finger picker of great dexterity, drawing on elements of folk and blues to convey stories both dark and uplifting. He has appeared at festivals including the Gympie Music Muster, Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Brunswick Music festival, as well as several tours across Europe and abroad. His recent work “Above The Bit” was described by Rhythms Magazine as…”The finest Australian roots music album this reviewer has heard so far this year”
