Tasting tours in the Macedon Ranges
Want to get a liquid taste of the Macedon Ranges, with experts that know where to go? The Macedon Ranges has over 28 cellar doors, three gin distilleries, a cider house on a heritage orchard and two craft beer breweries. The best way to experience these is to leave the car at home and go on tour with a local guide. Check out our business directory below for companies to book.
Love your wine?
You’re spoilt for choice with small group and private winery tour options in the Macedon Ranges. Taste cool climate wines our region is famous for, meet the winemaker and go on a scenic adventure on unsealed backcountry roads.
Our boutique wineries are tucked away on stunning rural properties and are largely family owned. The cellar doors are sometimes extensions to the shed – wooden floors, rusty corrugated iron and well-worn timbers. We grow some of the finest cool climate grapes in the land, and make exceptional wines; scarce and diverse in nature.
Love your gin?
Over select months throughout the year, Mountain Distilling runs small, guided gin foraging tours through the forest of Mt Macedon, followed by a tasting of their award-winning gins. Keep an eye on our What’s On page for upcoming dates.
Love your craft beer?
Do you have a passion for brewing? Join Holgate Brewhouse in Woodend for weekend brewery tours kicking off at 3pm from their amazing Taproom. Cost is $25 per person and includes a free 4 or 6 pack of Holgate beer. The Lost Watering Hole in Lancefield (opening mid 2022) will also be running tours of their German-style brewery – stay tuned for more.
