On this exclusive tour, we will visit two private gardens. We begin Join us on a Thursday morning in Autumn or Spring 2024 for a “Meet the Gardeners” morning tour.at the Mount Macedon hill-station Glen Rannoch, where we wander beside a creek under ancient tree ferns to then arrive at the historic garden. The 10 acre hill side garden reaches a pinnacle at the 1940’s viewing platform, which has breath taking views over Gisborne and beyond. An abundance of rare trees can be found at Glen Rannoch and we will stroll through the colorful “Maple Walk” in Autumn and admire the towering Rhododendrons in Spring. It is a sensational garden to visit in both season!

The next garden we visit will alternate each Thursday, between gardens Durrol and Shepherd’s Bush.

Durrol showcases the remnants of an Edna Walling garden which we will come across as we discover this glorious property held in the same family for over 100 years. In the garden we will find Head gardener Michael Dale. Michael’s extensive horticultural knowledge will give us an insight into the history and the evolution of this special beloved garden.

Shepherd’s Bush owners Kevin and Chris have passionately restored their historic garden over the last 20 years after it was destroyed in the 1983 bushfires. Shepherd’s Bush is the highest residence on Mount Macedon at 890 m above sea level. We enjoy a private guided tour by Kevin and hear all about the joy’s and challenges of creating this magnificent garden.

The tour runs from 10 am – 12pm. We meet outside our office at 690 Mount Macedon Rd and car convey to the gardens.

We recommend arriving early and getting yourself a coffee at the Trading Post Cafe located next door to our office.

Bookings will be taken until 5pm on the Tuesday, two days before the Thursday tour commences.
