Macedon Ranges tours
Whether it’s a memorable llama-guided hike to Hanging Rock Reserve or a private winery tour, the Macedon Ranges offers a diverse range of experiences for small and large groups. And when the tour ends, you’ve got nine charismatic and welcoming villages awaiting you to shop, eat and explore.
Wine, gin and brewery tours
You’re spoilt for choice with small group and private winery tour options in the Macedon Ranges. Use our tour business directory below for experiences geared toward foodies, wine, cider, beer and gin lovers. The Macedon Ranges has over 28 cellar doors, three gin distilleries, a cider house on a heritage orchard and two craft beer breweries.
Love your wine?
Taste cool climate wines our region is famous for, meet the winemaker and go on a scenic adventure on unsealed backcountry roads. Our boutique wineries are tucked away on stunning rural properties and are largely family owned. The cellar doors are sometimes extensions to the shed – wooden floors, rusty corrugated iron and well-worn timbers. We grow some of the finest cool climate grapes in the land, and make exceptional wines; scarce and diverse in nature.
Love your gin?
The Macedon Ranges is home to several award-winning gin distilleries, including Big Tree, Animus and Mountain Distilling.
Over select months throughout the year, Mountain Distilling also run small, guided gin foraging tours through the forest of Mt Macedon, followed by a tasting of their award-winning gins.
Love your craft beer?
Do you have a passion for brewing? Join Holgate Brewhouse in Woodend for weekend brewery tours kicking off at 3pm from their amazing Taproom. Cost is $25 per person and includes a free 4 or 6 pack of Holgate beer.
The Lost Watering Hole in Lancefield (opening late 2022) will also be running tours of their German-style brewery – stay tuned for more.
Hike with llamas
Hanging Rock Llama Treks is a must-do when visiting the region. Kids and adults alike love getting to know these charismatic llamas, while leading them on a hike to Hanging Rock Reserve. Make sure to book well in advance as it’s very popular!
Paranormal tours
Love a good ghost hunt? Kyneton Paranormal runs small group spooky ghost hunting tours in old buildings in Kyneton and surrounds, as well as private ghost tours for a minimum of two people.
Garden and nature tours

For families and nature lovers, check out the ranger-guided night walks held at Hanging Rock Reserve on select dates during the year. Or over the cooler months, join C The Market for small group mushroom foraging tours in Macedon Regional Park, where you can learn how to safely identify wild mushrooms with an expert in the field.

It doesn’t matter if it’s just the two of you or a group of 20, Chris will whip up a special tour with around 12 hours notice.
