More from Post Office Farm Nursery

Post Office Farm Nursery are specialist breeders and growers of Hellebores (winter roses).  Hellebores are tough and adaptable winter flowering perennials much loved by gardeners in temperate regions around the world.

The owner of Post Office Farm, Peter Leigh began growing Hellebores as a keen amateur collector in the early 1990s.  He began importing Hellebore seed from overseas and pretty soon ran out of room in his small Brunswick backyard.  After studying Horticulture at NMIT and Burnley he moved onto 20 acres at Ashbourne, near Woodend in 2002.  The nursery was established and plant sales began that same year.

All of the Hellebores sold by Post Office Farm are grown from their own breeding stock.  They are passionate about breeding the best quality seed grown Hellebores and are constantly seeking to improve their Hellebores by painstaking breeding work as well as importing both seed and plants from the best overseas growers.  Post Office Farm Nursery is registered with The Garden Plant Conservation Association of Australia as the holders of the national Hellebore collection.

As a production nursery Post Office Farm is not normally open to the public.  However visitors are welcome at the nursery during their Open Sundays in June, July, August and September (10-4pm).  This coincides with the peak flowering time for Hellebores and visitors will see an unmatched selection of stunning Hellebores for sale. Tours and talks about hellebores are conducting on these Open Sundays at 11am.

From April to mid October Post Office Farm Nursery also sell Hellebores by mail throughout Victoria and interstate.
